I have been a Cultus Lake property owner since 2003 and a year-round, full-time resident with my family for over six years. We love the lake, the natural environment and the distinctive sense of community that makes this such a unique place to call home. You've probably seen me walking my dogs, riding my bike, canoeing with my team on the lake, enthusiastically hosting or participating in our local events, or chatting with neighbours!


I believe that you can’t be part of a community unless you take part in it. Community, Leadership, Service and Stewardship are the values that have guided me throughout my life. For the past four years, through my company Pinnacle Pursuits, I have really enjoyed sponsoring Cultus Lake Day by providing the Family Adventure Challenge Zone for families and visitors of all ages to help build positive, shared experiences in our amazing community.


 I am not running because I believe anything is ‘broken’. I am running because I want to genuinely participate in making good decisions that help form a solid path ahead.  

 
   I am a business owner, professional facilitator and community-builder, avid nature-lover and outdoor recreationalist with more than 30 years of leadership experience. I know how to listen, bring people together, manage responsibilities and turn shared priorities into practical action.


I care deeply about the future of our beautiful lake, this park, and our unique community. I am running to help protect the health of our lake, strengthen community safety, support responsible long-term financial planning, and continue to improve communication between the Park Board and the people it serves.

I will bring to the role my love of the lake, passion for the community, and skills in: leadership and business, governance, fiscal responsibility, event logistics, risk management, positive PR, environmental stewardship, organizational development, facilitation and community building.

Let's face it: the health of our lake is at risk. There are growing concerns about the future health of our lake. Recent media reports highlight a federal scientific study warning that Cultus lake faces hidden pollution crisis that could degrade water quality and lead to toxic algae blooms in 25 years. This could ultimately have a huge economic impact. Without a happy, healthy lake, we would not have a happy lakeside community. Working alongside CLASS and the local government, we all need to find ways to effective advocate for viable solutions.

Whether it be our bountiful wildlife, increasing traffic challenges, potential natural disasters with wildfires and floods, drownings or near misses on the lake - with my background in logistics, wildfire, outdoor recreation, and risk management, I am well equipped and committed to discuss, help improve and work towards solving such issues.

Not everyone likes to talk money and budgets. However, careful cashflow and financial management is key. Both capital costs and maintenance costs are growing. Creating additional cashflow and slush funds are key to our future viability as a Park and as a collective community. For instance, the Village Centre Project will have a huge impact on our community. It is a hot topic and an important one which I believe requires further consideration to address long-term strategy and community needs.  Its not just about what we do, but HOW we do it - strategically and intentionally - with community buy-in.

From neighborhood gatherings, vibrant community events, seasonal celebrations, and townhall meetings, I will ensure we keep the positive energy and community participation active, and the level of engagement alive and strong!

MEET JONO WILLCOCKS

  LEADERSHIP GROUNDED IN LISTENING AND COLLABORATION

 

I am the Founder and CEO of Pinnacle Pursuits, an award-winning British Columbia company I established in 1997. For nearly three decades, I have worked as a professional facilitator, experiential educator, trainer, speaker, advisor and community-builder.

 
My team and I have designed and delivered customized leadership, team-building, educational and adventure-based experiences in 11 countries, serving more than 300,000 people in British Columbia alone. Our clients and partners have included businesses, schools, professional sports teams, nonprofit organizations, community groups, frontline workers, governments and First Nations organizations.

 
My work has taught me how to listen carefully, bring together people with different perspectives, ask responsible questions and turn shared priorities into practical action. As a business owner, I have also developed extensive experience in strategic planning, financial oversight, responsible risk and safety management, partnership development and leading an organization through growth and change.

 
Pinnacle Pursuits' community Charity Challenge initiatives have helped raise more than $15 million for important community causes—reflecting my long-standing belief that businesses and leaders have a responsibility to create meaningful social impact.

 
A RECORD OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

 
Community leadership has been an important part of my life beyond my professional work. I have participated on a variety of executive boards, including those serving community sports organizations, educational associations and conferences, as well as business and tourism organizations including the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce, Destination Vancouver and the Entrepreneurs' Organization. I am also a past President of the Rotary Club of Haney, where I contributed to Rotary's commitment to service, fellowship and positive community change.

 
My professional and community contributions have been recognized through several honours, including being named a recipient of Business in Vancouver's prestigious Forty Under 40 Award. I was also recognized as Experiential Educator of the Year in Canada by the Association for Experiential Education.

 
I hold a Bachelor of Education degree in Kinesiology and Human Wellness. I am also a Certified Executive Leadership & Professional Life Coach. My early work as wilderness firefighter helped teach me about fire science, safety and teamwork, and then as a wilderness counsellor, supporting young offenders, helped shape my lifelong commitment to helping people build confidence, rethink possibilities and reach their potential.

I believe Cultus Lake is both a remarkable community and a public treasure. I recognize that the next Park Board will face important and sometimes difficult decisions involving lake health, community safety, financial sustainability, future development and public trust.

 
If elected, I will bring an independent, balanced and solutions-focused voice to the Park Board. I am committed to listening respectfully to residents, leaseholders, businesses, visitors, staff, First Nations and community partners before making important decisions.

 
My approach will be grounded in transparency, responsible financial stewardship, environmental protection, meaningful community engagement and a genuine commitment to the long-term well-being of Cultus Lake.

 
For me, public service is not about having all the answers. It is about asking good questions, carefully considering the evidence, respecting different perspectives and working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community.
